I Told You I was Freaky

By: Eric McKinney

This photo essay entitled 6:12 Goes High Fashion features the work of 6:12 Photography by Eric McKinney, with designs by Diane Corey of KC Leatherwerks and Kelly Jones of  Shadow Oak Maille.

As the duo behind the 2013 runway collection for Paulk & Co.’s  Steampunk Carnival, Diane and Kelly make a strong team when they combine their talents and collaborate on designs.

Our vision for this photo shoot involved high fashion designs that would be unique, exclusive and made from high quality materials combined with the Neo-Victorian and sci-fi looks of Steampunk and futuristic fashion.

We started out with a handful of design ideas and the collection eventually grew to include twelve models and over forty different looks. The vision came to life in designs created from a mixture of Diane’s leather and Kelly’s chainmaille, torn and tattered shirts, and a pair of hand-crafted Icarus wings that became the highlight of the collection.

My vision for the portraits focused heavily on high-contrast lighting, to set the mood as dark and intense and also to highlight the models’ muscles and physique.

Hairstyling for the shoot was provided by Mackenzie Lane Knisley (AVEDA Nashville). Makeup artistry was provided by Missy Young, Rubi Dae and Ashley McClanahan. Lighting assistance was provided by Lennie Robertson. The models for the shoot included Eric “EC” Claussen, Anas Damiri, Connor Graham, Chase Ketron, McKenzie McDaniel, Jared McPherson, Tyler Mercereau, Billy Monette, John Thomas, Carolyn West, Erin White, and Derek Yates.
